"No matter who you are or where you come from, everyone deserves the opportunity to fulfil their potential and live life to the fullest. We all have a responsibility to ensure nobody gets held back because of circumstances beyond their control.
It's been a privilege to represent Remutaka in Parliament since 2008, and I hope to continue serving the community I call home in the next Parliament.
There's a lot at stake this election. Too many families are working harder than ever but finding it impossible to get ahead, while the basics like groceries and power keep getting more expensive. The National Government promised to fix things but have only made them worse.
As a Labour MP, I've spent my career fighting for a New Zealand where everyone can get ahead – and that’s what a Labour Government under my leadership will be focused on.
I want to build a country our kids want to stay in. One with good local jobs and opportunities worth sticking around for, so young New Zealanders don't feel they have to go overseas to get ahead. That means an economy that rewards hard work and gives young people a reason to put down roots here at home.
My focus remains where it's always been. Good local jobs, affordable healthcare, and warm homes people can afford to live in. As your local MP and as Leader of the Labour Party, I'll keep working for the people of Remutaka, and for a New Zealand where everyone can get ahead.
