"I’m standing as the candidate for the North Shore because I want to help build the type of Aotearoa that takes on the hard challenges and provides an opportunity for everyone to build a life that gives them purpose.
Sam lives on the North Shore with his wife Ange and their 8 year old son. Outside of the very important roles of dad and husband, he’s a communicator, organiser and agitator. When he sees a problem, his first instinct is to look for a way to create meaningful and long-lasting change or, failing that, a pragmatic short term solution.
Sam grew up in Hamilton, with working class roots and a connection to hard work. Some of his earliest memories are heading out with his dad on a Saturday morning to the truck wash or sweeping out the workshop.
He has spent the past 20 years working in major media organisations in both Aotearoa and the United Kingdom, creating content that connects with audiences and communities. He is currently a small business owner, and completed his Master of Public Policy through the University of Auckland in 2025.
Sam’s priorities for the North Shore are:
Put simply, I stand for a good society, in which every kid has the chance to grow and reach their potential. One in which every person lives a life that affords them the opportunity to find purpose, either in work or in the community.
