Dr Tracey McLellan has been a Labour MP based in Banks Peninsula since 2020 and served as the local MP from 2020-2023. She is Labour's spokesperson for Corrections and Christchurch Issues.
Tracey grew up in Southland and made Christchurch home in 2002. She holds a PhD in Psychology and worked for a number of years in research.
“I’m proud to be your local voice advocating for Christchurch. We have a wonderful region and, under the previous Labour Government, we saw record investment in local projects and in the core services we all rely on. Together we’ve worked on and resolved many local issues. I have enjoyed working with extraordinary community groups and passionate locals.
Tracey has long been an advocate for workers rights, including working as an organiser for the New Zealand Nurses Organisation supporting nurses working in primary health and across the health sector.
“I believe it's our responsibility to protect and strengthen the rights of working New Zealanders and I'm focused on creating a better future for all of us – one that supports good jobs, affordable living, thriving communities, and the natural environment that makes our region such a special place to call home.
