Release: Labour unveils 2026 campaign slogan: "Better starts now"
24 August 2026
Labour has launched its 2026 election campaign slogan: "Better starts now. Kia eke, ināianei."
"New Zealand cannot afford three more years of National. New Zealanders have worked hard through three tough years, but too many people are still going backwards,” Labour Leader Chris Hipkins said.
“This election is a choice: three more years of hardship, or a better future. While National is making things worse, Labour is fighting for more jobs, affordable healthcare, and lower household bills, so everyone can build a future here at home.
“‘Better starts now’ captures the spirit of our campaign. It’s a call to action, and a promise for better jobs, more affordable healthcare, warm, dry homes, and real action on the cost of living.
“Starting today, our slogan will be featured in electorates across the country. We’re excited to take our message to every New Zealander who could use a dose of hope right now.
“Better starts now,” Chris Hipkins said.
Labour's hoardings will begin going up across the country from today, ahead of the party's campaign launch on 27 September in Auckland.
