Sarah Kerby
Candidate for Nelson City Council, Stoke-Tāhunanui General Ward
Meet Sarah Kerby
I’m a Stoke mum, community advocate, and your Labour candidate for Nelson City Council - standing up to make local government work for everyday people.
Nelson is a place I love deeply. I’m a third-generation Stoke local, now raising my own boys here. I founded Bellyful Nelson so families doing it tough could count on a warm meal and a bit of help - something that became deeply personal when my son was diagnosed with cancer. I know how much strong local services and connected communities matter.
I’ve supported thousands of locals through my work in the Nelson electorate office - with housing, immigration, and navigating government systems. I’ve also organised protests, supported workers, helped during emergencies, and served as a Justice of the Peace. I bring energy, experience, and an endless drive for community service.
But right now, too many Nelsonians are struggling. Council needs to step up.
I’ll be a strong advocate for:
I live in Stoke and work in Tāhunanui. I know what it’s like to juggle work, whānau, and the rising cost of living, and I’m ready to bring that lived experience to Council.
Let’s build a fairer, stronger Nelson – together.
