My name is Vanushi Walters, and I’m Labour’s candidate for the Waitākere electorate. My family and I have proudly called West Auckland home for over 14 years, raising our young family in Glen Eden and now living in the Waitākere Ranges.

Before entering Parliament, I worked in community law as both a lawyer and manager, helping people navigate complex systems and stand up for their rights. I’ve also held senior roles with organisations like YouthLaw Aotearoa and the Human Rights Commission, and governance roles with Amnesty International and other community organisations. That experience has shaped my commitment to fairness, justice, and making sure no one is left behind.

I currently serve as Labour’s Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Shadow Attorney-General, and spokesperson for the SIS and GCSB. In these roles, I work to uphold the rule of law, strengthen New Zealand’s place in the world, and ensure our public institutions are accountable and serve people well.

I am committed to being present, listening, and advocating for the people of Waitākere. I am campaigning for better healthcare, more affordable homes, secure jobs, and real action on the cost of living, because these are the issues I hear about every day from local families.
